Cindy Chupack tells an absolutely wonderfully put together story about her husband coming out to her. As seems to be a theme of mine, it's touching and comical all at once. But what I find particularly appealing about this story is the way she braids several narratives together to make an overarching sort of point. In this relatively short time slot, she talks about her neighbor losing her husband to death, her father gaining understanding of something uncomfortable for him because he cares, and her husband leaving after realizing he was gay.
I'm not sure how much of her story was planned, but I think she's so successful with her structure.All of these plots work together to create something that's such a beautiful story. Cindy Chupack told this during The Moth, a storytelling event.
